If you are playing with the idea of buying a new iPhone, now is the time to wait. All signs are pointing to the launch of a new iPhone.
On September 12th, Apple has scheduled a media event. If history is any indication, a new product launch is imminent.
The iPhone maker has already released the second public Beta of iOS 12. Developers have even received the third preview of the Developer Beta of iOS 12.
A new iPhone is on its way.
The iPhone X (‘X’ gets pronounced as ‘ten’) has been somewhat of a success, but the competition from Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Google Pixel 3 is heating up. The biggest competitor for the next Apple iPhone is the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10.
Apple has got to act.
The best bet for the launch date of a new iPhone is usually September. Last year, Apple introduced two prior-generation devices, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, and only one edition of the next-generation iPhone X.
This year, Apple will most likely unveil two next-generation iPhones, dubbed XS, and one refresh of the iPhone X. According to some rumors from Bloomberg News, this scenario looks very likely:
The two new iPhone XS models will be unveiled during the September 12th event. The new 5.8-inch iPhone XS will probably become available only in late September 2018.
The super-sized iPhone XS with an almost 6.5-inch big OLED display is most likely in for an even late(r) ship date. Apple might want to fine-tune the tech specs last-minute, depending on the characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy S10.
One thing is for sure, last year’s split of the lineup with two outdated iPhone 8s and only one next-generation iPhone X wasn’t really the smartest move on Apple’s part. The prospective buyers of the iPhone 8s might not have purchased one after all. Who wants last year’s tech this year for Christmas?
Features like memory cards can still be upped last-minute. Since Apple is apparently aiming for two $1,000+ iPhone XS models, a lot will be riding on hitting a sweet spot with the specs. As a side-effect, Apple might delay the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone XS until mid-October or early November. Then it will be still just-in-time for Christmas. You may want to wait, too.
